THE RECAP
The St. Mary's Rattlers will return home victorious after a 3-0 shutout of Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas. The Rattlers (5-3) exercised total control over the Dustdevils en route to their 11th win over TAMIU in program history. Despite Laredo being a notoriously hard place to win at, the Rattlers bounced back against the Dustdevils and will look to start a new winning streak on Saturday.
Cian Foley started the scoring off by placing a ball into the bottom left corner of the goal in the 35th minute. Foley was assisted by Youssef Mouaddib for the score. After halftime, the Rattlers came back out and powered through a physical Dustdevils squad. Erwin Regules made his return to the lineup and promptly found the back of the net in the 53rd minute. With the game well in hand, Tony Andoyan added the third and final tally in the 63rd minute.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- With the win, the Rattlers earn their first victory over TAMIU since 2018. It is also just the third victory in Laredo for the program since 2002.
- The Rattlers outshot the Dustdevils in both halves, accounting for a 13-8 final margin.
- It was a physical game between two passionate sides. As a result, there were a total of 33 fouls called in tonight's game.
HEAD COACH JOHNNY CLIFFORD ON THE OUTCOME
"I thought we performed really well tonight. I challenged the boys to bounce back tonight and they certainly did. We were very clinical in the final third and it was a very positive performance. I'm very proud of the boys for earning a win in a very tough place to play."
