Mares Adds Another All-Region Honor

Jake Mares added another honor to his growing list recently as he was named to the All-South Central Region Second Team by the D2CCA.
Mares, a shortstop from Fort Worth, Texas led the Rattlers baseball team with a .363 batting average, starting in 44 of the team's 45 games. He collected 61 hits with eight doubles, three triples and two home runs and was 18-for-20 in stolen bases.
Mares reached base in each of the last 20 games of the season and tallied a 15-game hitting streak mid-season. Â He also had 17 multi-hit games throughout 2021 and helped lead the Rattlers to the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
He will spend the summer playing for the TCL (Texas Collegiate League) Chanclas in San Antonio, along with three other Rattlers before returning for his senior season in 2022.
