Sanchez Highlights 2021 LSC Tennis Awards
SAN ANTONIO –
Jeremiah Sanchez was honored by the league for his perfect 15-0 singles record during the 2021 season.
Sanchez took home three individual honors including Lone Star Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year recognition as the league revealed the annual awards on Thursday. He was named the conference's top player and was recognized as the Sportsmanship Player of the Year and Senior of the Year while also collecting the first team acclaim in both singles and doubles.
The Player of the Year honor is the second for Sanchez as he earned the accolade in 2018 when St. Mary's competed in the Heartland Conference.
The Harlingen, Texas native was also named the league's Academic Player of the Year for his success in the classroom. Sanchez, who graduated with his bachelor's degree is currently pursuing his MBA while playing in his final season of eligibility.
Many other Men's Tennis players earned LSC honor including
James Finnigan and
Leon Hein who were named second team for the singles play. Hein finished the year with a 14-2 singles mark while Finnigan suffered just one loss in 10 matches.
Hein also picked up an honorable mention nod with his doubles partner,
Nicolas Llosa. Hein and Llosa finished the season 9-2 in doubles action.
