Baseball Lands Three on All-Tournament Team
SAN ANGELO -- At the conclusion of the 2021 Lone Star Conference Tournament, three St. Mary's Baseball players were honored on the All-Tournament team.
Dylan Bells,
Brandon Broughton and
Brian Juarez were all named to the 13-player team after the Rattlers finished third.
Bells, a senior pitcher from Regina, Saskatchewan pitched seven innings in the team's victory over St. Edward's. Bells did not walk a single batter and struck out two, while allowing nine hits.
Broughton, a sophomore first baseman from Corpus Christi, Texas hit .417 on the weekend with a double and a home run for a .750 slugging percentage and a .462 on-base percentage.
Juarez collected eight base hits and five were for extra bases. He had four RBI for a 1.154 slugging percentage. The junior from Corpus Christi hit a tournament best .615, catching two games and serving as the designated hitter in the other.
The Rattlers finished with a 25-20 overall record and 20-16 in Lone Star Conference action. StMU swept Oklahoma Christian in the opening weekend of the tournament and defeated St. Edward's before falling to #5 Angelo State and Lubbock Christian.
