After capturing the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis South Central Championship, St. Mary's is headed to Surprise, Arizona to face top-seeded Indianapolis in the round of eight of the DII National Championship.

The Rattlers have made the final site of the DII tournament six of the last seven tournaments dating back to a stretch of five consecutive appearances from 2014-2018. With the reduced tournament field in 2021, StMU will make its first appearance in the quarterfinals since 2016 when they defeated Indiana (Pa.) in the round of 16 before falling to eventual national runner-up BYU-Hawaii.

StMU enters the tournament 17-5 overall and riding a three-match win streak that included wins over No. 20 Midwestern State and No. 9 Angelo State in the regional tournament. The Rattlers' 4-2 win over ASU in the regional championship match avenged a 5-2 loss during the regular season.

As the eighth seed at the final site of the national tournament, StMU will face the No. 1 seed UIndy. The Greyhounds enter the quarterfinals 21-0 overall and as the top-ranked team in Division II and have dropped just seven points this season.

The Rattlers will face UIndy for the first time since 2018 on Wednesday, May 19, at 11 a.m. CT at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
