ARLINGTON, Texas - A postseason run for the St. Mary's Men's Tennis team ended on Tuesday as the Rattlers fell 4-0 to the Cameron Aggies in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional final. The Rattlers finish the season with a 14-5 overall record including a 5-2 record in Lone Star Conference.
The Rattlers only doubles victory came at the No. 1 line as
Jeremiah Sanchez and
James Finnigan picked up a 6-2 victory. The Aggies earned the doubles point with wins at the two and three lines.Â
The Aggies went up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and extended their lead with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 2 line.Â
Jeremiah Sanchez picked up a 6-2 win in his opening set and was tied at five in the second. At the No. 4 line,
Nicolas Llosa battled after losing the first set 6-1, the freshman came back to win 6-0 in the second. Before Sanchez could finish, Llosa dropped the third set 6-2, allowing the Aggies to clinch the match with a 4-0 win.Â
The loss is just the first time all season the Rattlers have been shutout. Sanchez finished the season with a 16-0 singles record.Â
