Mares Tabbed Lone Star Hitter of the Week
RICHARDSON, Texas – For the second-straight week, a St. Mary's Baseball player has earned Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week honors as junior
Jake Mares was selected on Tuesday.
Mares, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas led the Rattlers to a 2-1 record at UT-Tyler which was receiving votes in the national poll. Mares hit .538 for the week and extended his hitting streak to 11-straight. He also scored the winning run in the 12-11 marathon series finale against the Patriots. He singled to right field with one on, stole second and hustled home on an error.
Mares stole two bags in the series to bring his season total to 17 – and he's been successful in his last 12 attempts.

Johnny Hernandez (El Paso, Texas) earned the honor a week ago while both
Zach De La Garza (San Antonio) and
Connor Schmidt (Devine, Texas) have been named Pitcher of the Week.
The Rattlers will host UAFS in the final regular-season series at Dickson Stadium beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
