SAN ANTONIO - The St. Mary's Men's Tennis squad won their fourth straight match on Saturday afternoon as the Rattlers handled Our Lady of the Lake, 6-1 at Rohrbach Tennis Stadium. St. Mary's improves their season record to 12-3.
St. Mary's took the doubles point over the Saints as the duo of
Jeremiah Sanchez and
Saisaurav Konakanchi picked up the first match win at the No. 1 line, winning 6-1. The doubles tandem is now 2-0 on the season. The last doubles duo on the courts for St. Mary's was
Jake Faryniarz and
Ryan Koth. With doubles action even at one match a piece after the Saints earned the win at No. 3 doubles to even things up, Faryniarz/Koth earned the 6-4 victory at No. 2 to clinch the point for St. Mary's.
Koth and
Alex Gee were the first singles matches to finish as they both earned 6-1, 6-0 wins to put St. Mary's ahead 3-0. Konankanchi was next, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 line to clinch the match victory for the Rattlers.
Our Lady of the Lake's lone victory of the day came at No. 1 singles. Faryniarz played at the No.1 line for St. Mary's today and played a tough match but came up just short, dropping the third set tie-break, 12-10.
After winning a tough first set, 7-5, Hein blanked his opponent in the second set, winning 6-0. Llosa was the last player on the court at the No. 3 line. Llosa squeaked out a 7-6 (7-3) victory in the opening set before clawing to a 6-4 win in the second to give the Rattlers their sixth win of the match.
St. Mary's will close out the regular season next week as they travel to Midwestern State and DBU.
