SAN ANTONIO – After a 2-0 week, the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team represented well on the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week list.
Liam Morrison earned Defensive Player of the Week while freshman
Andre Schlaefli earned Goalkeeper of the Week with two blank sheets.
Liam Morrison helped anchor a St. Mary's defense that produced two shutouts this week in Lone Star Conference play. Morrison and the Rattler defense allowed just six shots on goal over 180 minutes to record their third and fourth shutouts of the year. The senior lifted St. Mary's to a 2-0 victory over Midwestern State with his well-taken free-kick that bent around the Mustang wall for the game-winner in the 60th minute.
Andre Schlaefli was flawless in two games this week as the freshman recorded two clean sheets to help lead No. 10 St. Mary's to a pair of Lone Star Conference victories. Against Oklahoma Christian, Schlaefli made two saves to preserve a 2-0 victory over the Eagles. The Katy, Texas native denied four Mustang shots on goal against Midwestern State for his second win of the week. Schlaefli is now 3-1 on the season with three shutouts.
