ODESSA, Texas – The St. Mary's Women's Soccer team earned its second win this week as they took down UT Permian Basin, 3-0. The Rattlers outshot the Falcons 18-4, with 10 of those shots on frame.
St. Mary's and UT Permian Basin will meet for a rematch on Wednesday, March 3 as the Falcons make the trip to San Antonio to kick off Lone Star Conference play.
The Rattlers controlled today's match from start-to-finish as they held the Falcon attack to just four total shots and only two on frame.
Miranda Narvaez opened the scoring for the Rattlers as the senior took a pass from
Gabby Olsen and snuck it by the Falcon keeper to give St. Mary's a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the fourth of Narvaez's career.
Early in the second half,
Tori Permillion added an insurance goal for the Rattlers in the 49th minute.
Megan Copeland scored the first goal of her career in the 84th minute to make it 3-0 and put the match out of reach.
St. Mary's keeper
Cameron Koerner recorded her second straight clean sheet in the win over the Falcons. Koerner did not see much action today but stopped both shots she saw come her way.
The Rattlers took six corner kicks, four in the second half.
