OKLAHOMA CITY – The St. Mary's Men's Basketball ended a tough 2020-21 season on a high note on Saturday as the Rattlers took down the Oklahoma Christian Eagles, 83-76.
Four Rattlers finished in double figures led by
Tyler Caron who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, the first double-double of his young career.
St. Mary's shot went to the free throw line 30 times in the win, converting 26 of those attempts.
The Rattlers jumped out to an early 9-3 lead but the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to take a 12-9 advantage.
Kobe Magee erased that deficit with his first triple of the night. Magee scored 11 points in just his second game of the year.
Caleb Jordan knocked down a triple with less than two minutes to go in the opening half but Oklahoma Christian closed out the half on a 7-0 run to take a two-point lead into the locker room.
Oklahoma Christian started fast in the second half, opening up a seven-point advantage less than a minute into the half. A 9-2 St. Mary's run capped off by a triple from
Miles McDougal evened the game at 47 with just over 17 minutes left to play.
Caron gave the Rattlers the lead back with an old-fashioned three-point play at the 16:59 and St. Mary's would lead for the next five minutes. The Eagles took the lead with 11:44 to play but on the next two St. Mary's possessions,
Jaron Presley knocked triples to put the Rattlers in front for good.
St. Mary's would not trail the for the remainder of the game, en route to a victory over the Eagles.
Caleb Jordan finished with 17 points, his third double-figure scoring effort of the season.
Mamady Djikine added 13 points in the win, his 10th straight double-figure scoring performance.
The game featured six ties and 10 lead changes.
