Women's Basketball Drops First of Four Games Against St. Edward's

SAN ANTONIO – In a late switch, the St. Mary's Women's Basketball team hosted St. Edward's after both teams had games postponed. Despite holding the Hilltoppers to an 8.3 percent shooting night from beyond the arc, the short-handed Rattlers fell, 60-48.

Senior F Hannah Wilson (Fredericksburg, Texas) tallied her fourth-straight double-double with a game-high tying 14 points and a season-best 16 rebounds. Sophomore G Briley Perkins (Houston) also scored in double digits, adding 12 on the strength of a 6-for-6 night at the free throw line. Senior G Mya Culiver (Rockwall, Texas) led the game with six assists.

The first rebound of the game for Wilson was the 800th of her career and she becomes one of just five players in school history to accomplish the feat.

The Rattlers (4-7, 4-7 Lone Star Conference) out-rebounded the Hilltoppers (6-10, 6-7 Lone Star) 36-to-35, however StMU turned the ball over 26 times. Both teams were 13-for-18 at the free throw line (72.2 percent), but SEU won the field goal percentage battle, 41.8 percent (23-for-55) to 32.0 (16-for-50).

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Rattlers.
