SAN ANTONIO – Scoring his 1,000th career point wasn't enough of an accomplishment for St. Mary's senior guard
Caleb Jordan on Saturday afternoon, so he went ahead and added the first double-double of his stellar career with 16 points and a career-high 10 assists in the Rattlers 96-70 home opening victory over Huston-Tillotson.
Jordan, a senior from Midlothian, Texas was one of five Rattlers to score in double digits and the club evened their season record at 2-2. Senior transfer

Kobe Magee (San Antonio) added 13, junior
C.J. Washington (Houston) scored 12 and junior
Ryan Leonard (Kerry, Ireland) chipped in 11.
Sophomore
Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas), playing in his first game of the season, grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, notching the third double-digit game of his career.
The Rattlers did a great job of keeping the Rams (2-8) off the offensive glass, limiting them to one offensive rebound in each half. Overall, StMU out-rebounded HT 52-24 in the contest. The Rattlers also shared the ball well, recording 23 assists on 38 made baskets and 10 of the 11 players recorded at least one dish.
Magee posted a season-high two steals – both coming in the first 20 minutes – as the Rattlers had six steals and three blocked shots.
St. Mary's hits the road again for a pair of non-conference games against Lone Star competition, playing at UT-Permian Basin on Dec. 11 and at Angelo State on the 13th.
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER & TEAM NOTES
- Caleb Jordan became the first Rattler since All-American Kevin Kotzur in 2013 to score 1,000 career points, doing so on a layup with 16:07 left in the second half. Jordan went on to score 11 more, getting the first double-double of his career with 16 points and a career-high 10 assists. It was the 51st double figure scoring game of Jordan's career.
- Senior Parker Gettys (New Braunfels, Texas) grabbed a season-high three rebounds in seven minutes of play. Gettys has had at least two boards in three of the four games this season.
- The Rattlers defense held Huston-Tillotson to just two offensive rebounds in the game, one in each half.
- Josh Brewer scored a career-best 21 points after scoring 18 against Regis on Nov. 13. Brewer hit a career-best five three pointers, going 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. The 21 points now gives him 157 for his career.
- Junior Emmanuel Ewuzie (San Antonio) tallied the first assist of the year and ended the game with two. He also brought down six rebounds – including four on the offensive end of the floor.
- With his seven points on the afternoon, senior Mamady Djikine (Paris, France) topped the 200-point milestone with the Rattlers. Djikine now has 205 in his second year.
