SAN ANTONIO – In the final regular season game of the 2021 season, the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team got back to its winning ways, snapping a three-match losing skid with a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M International.
Prior to the start, the extraordinary class of nine seniors was honored for their contributions to the Rattlers program. The enthusiasm from the ceremony carried onto the pitch as the team controlled the pace of the game, outshooting the Dust Devils 6-1 through the first 28 minutes.
The sixth shot resulted in the contest's lone goal as senior
Alonso Rodriguez (Salamanca, Spain) scored on a feed from senior
Martin Ibarreche (Puebla, Mexico) and senior
Erwin Regules (Houston).
Senior
Raul Guillamon-Bejar (Barcelona, Spain) then proceeded to shut down the A&M International offense, making eight saves on the evening to secure the 1-0 win.
The win gives the Rattlers the fourth-seed in the Lone Star Conference Championship, where they will host UT-Tyler on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
