TAKING THE PITCH
The St. Mary's Rattlers are back to close the month of October in a conference game against Lubbock Christian. The Rattlers and Chaps are second and fourth in the conference respectively, and both are looking to secure a birth in the postseason tournament.
The Rattlers saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end against No. 7 Midwestern State. StMU dropped a 2-1 contest in which they played very well, but were unable to overcome an own goal. Still, the Rattlers remain determined to bounce back and continue their high level of play.
For the Chaps, they have won two in a row following a 1-0 win over Texas A&M International. The Chaparrals are over the .500 mark for the first time all season and hold the fourth and final slot in the LSC postseason tournament.
As a nod towards the Halloween weekend, there will be candy for all in attendance and a Raising Cane's gift card for the best dressed.
RATTLER STORYLINES
- The Rattlers are second in the LSC and 12th in the South-Central Region. Regional rankings are all important as the Rattlers look to make another deep run in the NCAA tournament.
- St. Mary's continues to challenge teams to score on them, boasting one of the best back lines in the country.
- The Rattlers are 4-5-1 against the Chaps all-time. They last won their 2020 matchup 3-2 in Lubbock.
SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
- The Chaps aren't an explosive team offensively, but they also don't allow a lot of goals. LCU has totaled 20 goals for and 16 against in 2021.
- Kevin Mejas and Luciano Rodriguez lead the Chaps offensively with three goals apiece.
- Braxton Thorne has manned the net for the Chaps for 10 of the 12 games this year. His goals against average is 0.97.
