FORT SMITH, Ark. – Despite three hitters recording double digits in kills, the St. Mary's Volleyball team lost in straight sets at UAFS on Friday evening, 25-18, 25-17, 25-18.
Senior outside hitter
Alissa Tolbert (San Antonio) continued to do everything to lift the team, recording her 14th double-double of the season with a team-leading 12 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore right side hitter
Julia Aleman (San Antonio) added 11 kills, while sophomore outside hitter
Lindsey Ogle (Houston) chipped in 10. The other six players with attempts combined for only eight kills.
Junior libero
Gabi Sandoval (San Antonio) led the team with 15 digs, while freshman setter
Cali Nims (Corpus Christi, Texas) garnered 27 assists.
The Rattlers (10-7, 4-6 Lone Star) dug themselves holes early in each set and fought tough, but were never able to tie the score or grab a lead against the Lions (10-10, 5-6 Lone Star).
The team now has less than 18 hours to travel the 183 miles to Oklahoma City and prepare for a rematch against Oklahoma Christian at 2 p.m. In the first weekend of the season, the Rattlers won a thrilling 18-16 fifth-set decision over the Eagles.
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER & TEAM NOTES
- Freshman setter Cali Nims recorded the 350th assist of her career with her fifth of the night and now has 372.
- Senior outside hitter Alissa Tolbert posted her 14th double-double of the year with 12 kills and 10 digs. It is also the 39th of her career and her fifth in the last six matches.
- St. Mary's never had a run of more than three points during the match.
- The Rattlers are now 4-21 all-time against UAFS and 2-12 in Fort Smith.
- Oklahoma Christian defeated St. Edward's in four sets and now there are eight teams in the conference with between three and five conference victories.
