TAKING THE PITCH
St. Mary's returns to Sigma Beta Chi Field to host Oklahoma Christian on Saturday evening. The Rattlers (10-3) are receiving votes in the national polls and look to solidify a newly minted spot in the top 25 with a win over the Eagles. Saturday's game comes on the heels of a dramatic double-overtime victory the Rattlers earned on Wednesday over then-No. 18 West Texas A&M.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are looking for any sort of momentum after dropping their last two games in a row. The losses are broken up by a 1-1 draw against Lubbock Christian. The Eagles have only one win this season, coming all the way back in early September when they beat Newman (KS).
The Rattlers own a 7-3-2 record against the Eagles. They have a two-game winning streak against OC, but haven't actually lost to the Eagles since 2012.
RATTLER STORYLINES
- The Rattlers swept the season series against a ranked West Texas A&M Team and sit in first place in the conference.
- With momentum on their side, the Rattlers look to plow through the remaining five games on their schedule.
- Saturday is one of the final three home games for St. Mary's. They are 5-2 at home this season.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
- The Eagles don't score much (13), but they don't allow many goals either (19). However, five of OC's goals came in their September 8th win over Newman.
- OC has struggled to get balls on frame this season, finding the target only 36% of the time.
- The Eagles have curiously allowed five penalty kicks this season, but have saved three of the five attempts.
UP NEXT
The Rattlers head to face the Mustangs of Midwestern State in what promises to be a battle for the top of the Lone Star Conference. Kick is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday night.
