SAN ANTONIO – Connected with the majority of universities in San Antonio, Ken Burmeister started his journey at St. Mary's University graduating in 1970. The long-time basketball coach passed away on May 19, 2020 and the Rattlers have established a scholarship in his honor.
Burmeister, who served as the head coach at Incarnate Word (2006-2018) and Trinity (1998-1999), also had his first head coaching position at University of Texas-San Antonio from 1986-1990. He also spent four seasons at Loyola (IL) and was an assistant coach at Texas-Arlington, Iowa, Arizona and DePaul throughout his 35+-year career in collegiate basketball.
Throughout his career, Burmeister was a supporter of St. Mary's Basketball and his roots within the Rattlers community.
The St. Mary's scholarship in his name has already raised more than $10,000 and is open to donations. Please visit
