TUCSON, Arizona – The St. Mary's Softball team came from behind with a three-run seventh inning to lift the Rattlers over the California Pennsylvania Vulcans to close out the Cactus Classic.
The Rattlers trailed 2-0 heading into their last at-bat and managed to put a three-run rally together to win their third game of the weekend.
It was California of Pennsylvania who scored first as the Vulcans plated two runs in the in the second inning on a two-RBI single from Christiana Czegan.
Juliana Cerda singled to start the seventh inning and gave way to pinch runner,
Jessica Day. With a runner one and nobody out,
Amber Gonzales grounded back to the pitcher who forced Day out at second.
Jayme Johns tied the game in the seventh inning with a two-run single and was moved to third by a single from
Victoria Aldridge. Johns then scored on a wild pitch to end the game.
J. Johns recorded three hits in a game for the fourth time this season and extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
Staci Johns got the start in the circle for St. Mary's and the senior tossed four innings before being relieved by junior
Alex McLennan who picked up the win going three innings, allowing just two hits while holding the Vulcans scoreless.
