McDougal Nets 13 as Men's Basketball Falls to A&M-Commerce

SAN ANTONIO – After having their first four games postponed, the St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team took to the court to battle Texas A&M University-Commerce in a non-conference tilt inside Bill Greehey Arena. 
 
After shooting just 32 percent from the floor in the opening half, St. Mary's improved in the second half of action, shooting 47 percent from the field. The Lions remained hot the entire game, shooting 59 percent in the opening half and 54 percent for the game. 
 
Junior Miles McDougal posted a game-high 13 points in his first game in a Rattler uniform. McDougal was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Dylan Isenhower was the only other Rattler in double figures with 10 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor. 
 
St. Mary's got a solid first performance from junior college transfer Mamady Djikine. Djikine finished with eight points, a team-high nine rebounds and four assists in the loss.  
 
Team and Player Notes
  • Today's game was the first competitive game in 294 days for St. Mary's.
  • Six St. Mary's scored their first career points for the Rattlers today.
  • The win for A&M-Commerce gave then the lead in the overall series. The Lions now lead the series 10-9.
 
St. Mary's will have two weeks off before traveling to Commerce to take on the Lions in conference action on January 2 and January 3.
