Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wilson Records 20th Career Double-Double in Loss

LUBBOCK, Texas – The St. Mary's women's basketball team shot much better from the field in the second of two contests at Lubbock Christian, but it still wasn't enough to overcome the Lady Chaps and they fell 67-47.

On Friday in the season opener, the Rattlers (0-2, 0-2 Lone Star Conference) managed to shoot just 24.9 percent from the field, but they bounced back on Saturday evening to connect on 42.9 percent of their shots. The team also stayed strong in free throws, making 6-of-8 attempts (75.0 percent).

Senior Hannah Wilson (Fredericksburg, Texas) posted a game-high 12 points and 13 rebounds and made all four of her shots from the charity stripe. Sophomore Brianna Ford (San Antonio) was second on the team with nine points, while sophomore Tonia Bilic (Zagreb, Croatia) came off the bench to pull down six boards.

The Lady Chaps (2-0, 2-0 Lone Star) played 14 student-athletes, led by Allie Schulte with 11 points and six rebounds. She also added five assists and five steals to lead the game in both columns.

Sophomore Briley Perkins (Houston, Texas) led the Blue & Gold with four assists, while she and senior Mya Culiver (Rockwall, Texas) each added two steals.
Each team grabbed 28 rebounds after the Rattlers out-boarded the Lady Chaps by four on Friday evening.

St. Mary's now turns its attention towards Texas Woman's. The teams will play on both Saturday and Sunday at noon inside Bill Greehey Arena. The Arena will be closed to fans, but you may watch on the Lone Star Network (www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com/stmu).
