LUBBOCK, Texas – The St. Mary's women's basketball team shot much better from the field in the second of two contests at Lubbock Christian, but it still wasn't enough to overcome the Lady Chaps and they fell 67-47.
On Friday in the season opener, the Rattlers (0-2, 0-2 Lone Star Conference) managed to shoot just 24.9 percent from the field, but they bounced back on Saturday evening to connect on 42.9 percent of their shots. The team also stayed strong in free throws, making 6-of-8 attempts (75.0 percent).
Senior
Hannah Wilson (Fredericksburg, Texas) posted a game-high 12 points and 13 rebounds and made all four of her shots from the charity stripe. Sophomore
Brianna Ford (San Antonio) was second on the team with nine points, while sophomore
Tonia Bilic (Zagreb, Croatia) came off the bench to pull down six boards.
The Lady Chaps (2-0, 2-0 Lone Star) played 14 student-athletes, led by Allie Schulte with 11 points and six rebounds. She also added five assists and five steals to lead the game in both columns.
Sophomore
Briley Perkins (Houston, Texas) led the Blue & Gold with four assists, while she and senior
Mya Culiver (Rockwall, Texas) each added two steals.
Each team grabbed 28 rebounds after the Rattlers out-boarded the Lady Chaps by four on Friday evening.
St. Mary's now turns its attention towards Texas Woman's. The teams will play on both Saturday and Sunday at noon inside Bill Greehey Arena. The Arena will be closed to fans, but you may watch on the Lone Star Network (

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES
- All eight players that have seen action this season have made at least one field goal in each of the two games.
- Senior Hannah Wilson recorded her first double-double of the 2020-21 season with 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the game in both categories. It is the 20th double-double of Wilson's career.
- The Rattlers have sunk five three-pointers in each of the first two contests of the year. They've made five or more in five consecutive games and three or more in 20 straight.
- StMU is a positive 2.0 rebounds per game through the first weekend of the season. The Rattlers out-rebounded the Lady Chaps by four in game one and each team had 28 on Saturday.
