LAWTON, Okla. — St. Mary's Men's Basketball found a way to win on the road in a victory over Cameron University on Thursday, thanks in part to 24 points and five 3-pointers from sophomore
Caleb Jordan.
Kobe Magee and
Lamont Traylor were the other Rattlers to score in double figures, with 12 and 15 points, respectively. Magee also had a game-high eight assists. Markeques Houston and
Dylan Isenhower both brought down double-digit rebounds, with 12 and 11. On defense, Houston had three steals and
Emmanuel Ewuzie had four blocks.
The Rattlers opened the game on a 12-0 run, with consecutive threes from
Matej Gaspert, Jordan and Magee. The Aggies brought it back within single-digits, but the Rattlers hit another trifecta of threes to get out to a 25-15 lead midway through the first half. Isenhower hit another three and Jordan dropped two more to to increase the lead to 16, 37-21, with seven minutes left in the first half. Both teams went through a scoring drought in the final minutes of the half, but Houston made a layup with 30 seconds left to give St. Mary's a 47-34 lead at halftime.
Jordan picked up where he left off early in the second half, hitting his fifth 3-pointer of the night to give the Rattlers a 52-36 lead less than three minutes into the period. Cameron was able to go on a small run and cut the deficit back to single digits, 59-51, midway through the second half. The Rattlers were able to hold on, however, and a layup by Jordan with 7:34 to go extended the lead back to double digits permanently. Traylor had 12 of his 15 points in the latter half of the second period to cement the Rattler victory.
