Men's Tennis falls to Southwest Baptist

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team fell Thursday afternoon in a dual match against Southwest Baptist University. The Rattlers fell to the Bearcats by a 5-2 decision.

The No. 1 twosome of Jeremiah Gonzalez and Bojan Popovic were the lone duo to win in doubles for St. Mary's. Popovic and Gonzalez took down the Bearcats 7-5. Southwest Baptist took victories from the Rattlers on the bottom two courts to take the early 1-0 edge over StMU heading into singles play.

The Bearcats continued to their winning ways in singles action, taking four of the six courts from the Rattlers. Jeremiah Gonzalez and Louis Bonnay earned wins over their respective opponents. Bonnay took the first set 6-4 at the No. 6 position before losing the second frame 6-4. He then won the match by becoming victorious in the third set breaker, 10-8.

The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team continues spring break action in San Antonio, playing Hawaii Pacific University at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Annemarie Tennis Center.
