Women's Tennis falls to Sharks

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Tennis played on Tuesday, and despite earning two singles points, the Rattlers were unable to keep the momentum going in a 5-2 setback to Hawaii Pacific University.
 
The two squads met at the Northside Tennis Center, as part of a week full of matches at the facility.

"We were solid overall again and really close in singles," graduate assistant coach Kaylin Kruseman said. "HPU played the big points a little tougher, especially losing three very close three-setters. We showed some good signs."

Unfortunately, the Gold and Blue dropped the doubles point, despite Isabelle Bergman/Rani Goodland having a close set, dropping the match 7-6 (6) at the No. 2 position.

The Rattlers went the distance in one-third of the singles tilts, but managed two triumphs from freshmen Ashley Penshorn (6-4, 4-6, 6-0) and Alice Thane (6-4, 7-6 (5)).
 
Up Next:
The Rattlers fly out to Florida to compete against three teams on March 22 and March 23 against West Florida, West Alabama and Valdosta State.
