Men's Basketball Wins Third Straight at UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas – The St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team picked up their third consecutive win on Saturday as they took down Lone Star Conference opponent, the University of Texas at Tyler by a score of 69-57. 
 
The Rattlers had three players in double-figures to move to 4-2 overall on the season and 2-0 in LSC action.
 
Dylan Isenhower registered a double-double with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting including 3-of-3 from long distance and a game-high 10 rebounds. Kobe Magee finished with 16 points, his fourth double-figure performance of the season. Magee also dished out a team-high five assists. Caleb Jordan notched his fifth double-figure scoring game of the season with 15 points.
 
St. Mary's shot 42 percent from the field and from beyond the arc. The Rattlers converted a season-high 90 percent of the free throw attempts and pulled down a season-high 44 rebounds as a team. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
UT Tyler scored the first basket of the game but the Rattlers answered with a 14-0 run that spanned over six minutes to take a commanding 16-2 advantage with 12:18 left to play in the opening half. The Patriots climbed back into the contest, cutting the St. Mary's lead to six with 5:29 go to in the half but the Rattlers were able to maintain their lead and take a nine-point lead into the break. 
 
St. Mary's controlled the second half leading by as many as 18. The Rattlers were 5-of-9 from long distance in the second half and held the Patriots to 35 percent shooting from the floor.
 
INDIVIDUAL & TEAM NOTES
  • Isenhower has scored in double-figures four times this season, doubling his career mark set last season as a freshman.
  • Magee has a steal in four of the Rattlers' six contests this season and is second on the team with six total steals. Magee's 38 assists rank second in the LSC.
 
UP NEXT
 
After a six-game road trip the Rattlers will play at home on Tuesday as they host Schreiner University at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
