LAREDO, Texas — St. Mary's Men's Basketball team closed out the Courtyard Marriott Classic at Texas A&M-International with a 99-74 win over Arlington Baptist to move to 2-2 on the season.
Kobe Magee led the Rattlers in scoring with 20 points, and also added a team-high six assists.
Caleb Jordan added 13 points and a game-high three steals, and
Jaron Presley rounded out the double-digit scores with 12 points.
Emmanuel Ewuzie had a game-high 10 rebounds for the Rattlers.Â
St. Mary's never trailed in the game, starting the night off on a 7-0 run and never cooling off. Magee hit a jumper with 8:16 left in the first half to give the Rattlers their first double-digit lead, 32-21, and they entered halftime up 52-42.Â
The Rattlers stayed hot in the second half, with Presley hitting a three to increase the lead to 20, 70-50, with 13:42 left. The lead ballooned to as many as 29, 89-60, on a jumper from
Zach Keller with 7:17 left, and the Rattlers finished with a 25-point lead at the final buzzer. St. Mary's made 20 of 32 field goals in the second half for a blistering 62.5 percent shooting percentage.Â
St. Mary's travels to Texas A&M-Commerce and UT-Tyler next week before returning to San Antonio for the team's home opener on Nov. 26 against Schreiner Univesrsity.Â
