The Rattlers and Patriots series dates back to 1991. St. Mary's has won 23 of the 29 matchups, including the last five in a row. 

The "Battle of the Saints" rivalry between the Rattlers and Hilltoppers goes back to 1991. St. Mary's won the first meeting 4-1 in San Antonio, but was only able to win two more times that decade. From 2001-2005 the Rattlers won eight of 11 meetings, but since then have fallen short of their rivals. St. Mary's was able to beat St. Edward's in San Antonio last year before dropping the last meeting on the road 5-1 in Austin in October 2018.
