ODESSA, Texas – The St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team dropped their second match of the week as they fell 2-1 at the University of Texas Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon. The Rattlers fall to 4-8 overall and 2-5 in Lone Star Conference action on the year.
St. Mary's put a goal on the scoreboard early as
Alexia Maldonado scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year off an assist from
Alessandra Rivera in the 5th minute.
In the 22nd minute UTPB scored the equalizer as Kessie Stockner put an assist from Deonna Calhoun in the lower left of the net.
With about eight minutes remaining in the contest, UTPB netted the game-winner to secure their first victory of the season.
Leah Whitaker took a team-high six shots and put three on goal while
Tori Permillion had two shots, both found the frame.
St. Mary's will return to Sigma Beta Chi Field on Thursday as they host West Texas A&M University at 7 p.m.
