Junior guard Alexia Torres (San Antonio) led all players with five assists, while Banks and Porter each had two steals.

St. Edward's (10-11, 2-5 Heartland) was led by Sammie Dufek with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

How It Happened
St. Mary's jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, out-scoring the Hilltoppers 20-6 in the first 10 minutes. Both Porter and sophomore forward Audrey Wandji (Houston, Texas) scored four points to lead the way, while Wandji had three rebounds. The Rattlers defense held the Hilltoppers to just four points in the second quarter, while the offense put up 12. Porter added five more points, while Walla hit her second three of the game and Thomas had four boards.

In the third quarter, both Thomas and Banks had four points and seven different Rattlers each had one rebound as St. Edward's out-scored St. Mary's 17-to-13 to close the gap, 45-27. The Rattlers shot 50 percent from the field in the stanza (6-for-12) and 33.3 percent from the arc (1-for-3).  In the final quarter, the Rattlers managed 11 points, while the Hilltoppers posted just 10 for the 56-37 final tally. Thomas again scored four points and had a pair of blocked shots, while Wilson grabbed four caroms.

Individual Notes
  • With her nine points, senior Arysia Porter moved into eighth in St. Mary's history in career scoring with 1,223 points. She moves past Julie Lynch (1,221, 1991-95) and Shelly Blomer (1,219, 1996-2000).
  • Senior guard Kaitlin Walla made two three-pointers to bring her single-season total to 56, which ties her for fourth with both Natalie Gamez (2008-09) and Jackie Woods (2013-14).
