Tough start to road trip for Rattlers

LUBBOCK, Texas — St. Mary's began the Lubbock Christian Chap Classic on Friday afternoon, falling in straight sets to Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The Rattlers struggled through the first two games, falling 25-16 and 25-14. In the third set, they battled falling 25-23 after being outscored 6-2 during the final eight points.
 
Senior Channing Hankins led the charge offensively for the Rattlers with 13 kills while freshman Julia Deais recorded 10 kills with a .571 hitting percentage.
 
Bree Perry logged 21 assists as Monica Ramon posted 14 digs.
 
Tomorrow, the Rattlers will play a pair of games to conclude tournament play. First they will take on Arkansas-Monticello at 9 a.m. before ending the weekend with a meeting against Washburn at 3 p.m.
