Rattlers strike early, fall to Buffs for first home loss of season

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Soccer fell to West Texas A&M 4-1 on Saturday at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
 
Despite an early goal from Ollie Wright in the 11th minute that put the Rattlers in front, WT wrestled all momentum away late in the first half, striking for two goals in the final five minutes of the opening frame.
 
Wright placed three of his five shots on goal while Luis Sanchez and Pato Botello Faz each registered four shot attempts apiece.
 
For the Rattlers (5-2-2, 3-2-1), this marked their first home loss of the season. Prior to Saturday, the St. Mary's had won three-straight home matches.
 
The Rattlers will head to the road for the next four matches against conference opponents, beginning with Texas A&M International on Thursday at 7 p.m.
