Men’s Hoops signs Curtlon Wesley to 2018-2019 roster

By Brian Magloyoan | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — Men's Basketball has signed Curtlon Wesley for the 2018-2019 season head coach Jim Zeleznak announced.

"Curtlon is a strong, physical presence in the post area," Zeleznak said. "He gives us that physical bulk that we need inside."

Wesley comes to St. Mary's from Blinn College where last season he played in all 32 games, starting in 30, averaging a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game.

"Curtlon has lived up to the high standards of the Blinn College Men's Basketball program both on and off the court," Blinn College head coach Scott Schumacher said. "He played a major role in this year's winning season."

The 6-foot-7 forward posted his best game of the season against Angelina College on Jan. 31 when he collected 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.

"We're excited to have him," Zeleznak added. "He's going to be a major contributor because of his ability to score, defend and rebound."

As to why Wesley chose St. Mary's, he feels that the university offers him a great opportunity.

"I believe that I can reach my full potential here, on and off the court," Wesley said. "I trust the coaches and I believe they trust me. I won't let them down."
