By Ben Arnett | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Baseball completed their sweep of Lubbock Christian on Saturday, winning 13-3 and 8-3 on Homecoming Weekend at Dickson Stadium.

The Rattlers, now second in the conference with an 8-4 record and a 24-10 overall record, put on a huge batting display for the whole series. Saturday's second game, an 8-3 triumph, was capped with both Donnie Perez and Oscar Betancourt racking up three hits.

On the base-running side, James Davison, Oscar Betancourt and Nick Galaviz all managed to steal one base.

Both Donnie Perez and Andrew Perez punched in two runs from the plate. Other players with an RBI include Jacob Aguilar, Ragan Forrest and Oscar Betancourt.

On the mound for St. Mary's was Octavio Rodriguez, who collected the win. He pitched 6 2/3 innings, racking up five strikeouts while only allowing seven hits and giving up three runs. Throwing relief was Weston Smith. In 2 1/3 innings, he only allowed two hits and managed a trio of strikeouts.

Between the two games, Donnie Perez went 5 for 8, leading the way for the Rattlers. He was also tied with Angel Vega for RBIs, with both collecting five on the day. The majority of Vega's success came from his second-inning grand slam in the first game of the day.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rattlers played a clean second game, collecting no errors. Nick Galaviz was doing the majority of the work infield, with four assists on the day and three putouts. First baseman Donnie Perez also had nine putouts during the game. Catcher Ragan Forrest also had nine putouts. In the outfield, Davison did most of the work with three putouts.

The Rattlers return to the diamond this Friday and Saturday against rivals St. Edward's. Make sure to come out and support your Rattlers as they try to catch UAFS in the conference standings. Friday's first pitch is slated for 2 p.m. at Dickson Stadium.
