SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's returned to form on Tuesday, sweeping its doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Winning in every way possible, the Rattlers took Game 1 with in the 12th inning of Game 1 behind a complete-game outing from pitcher Alex McLennan, before run ruling the Javelinas 9-1 in the nightcap.

The freshman McLennan etched her name in the Rattler Softball record books by tossing 12 innings, tying her with Monique Fluellen for the third most innings pitched in a single game in program history. She would also record a career-high 10 strikeouts as the Rattlers snapped their seven-game losing streak.

A two-run home run in the third put the Rattlers in a deficit early. An RBI double from Kristal Salinas in the fifth put the Rattlers on the board, setting up a game-tying sac fly from Alessandra Ortiz an inning later.

Hannah Michel would deliver the game-winning RBI double on the first pitch of her seventh at-bat of the ballgame to conclude matters in the 12th inning.

It took less time for the Rattlers to put runs on the board in Game 2 as they would post eight runs on seven hits in the opening frame.

Salinas began the scoring with a two-run blast to left center field. Two batters later, Marcela Vasquez would hit her own two-run shot to left center as the inning would end with Salinas getting two more RBI on a single to right center.

Hope Russell took to the circle in the nightcap, tossing a complete-game, holding the Javelinas to only one hit in five innings.

On Sunday, the Rattlers will host Oklahoma Christian beginning at 2 p.m. in the final home series of the regular season.
