Aguilar’s grand blast lifts Rattlers past Jaguars

SAN ANTONIO — Trailing by one with the bases loaded in the fifth inning, Jacob Aguilar delivered in grand style, crushing a grand slam to left field as St. Mary's defeated Houston-Victoria 7-2 on Tuesday night at Dickson Stadium.
 
Led by a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by Donnie Perez, the Rattlers collected their 10th win in 11 games.
 
Steven Cardone picked up the win on the mound, improving to 2-0 after tossing three scoreless innings where he only allowed two hits, retiring seven of the 11 batters he faced.
 
Conceding the first two runs of the game to the Jaguars, the Rattlers would strike for seven-unanswered runs.
 
On Friday, the Rattlers will face a stern test when they visit St. Edward's for a four-game series.
