Perez, Fernandez-Beltran key as Rattlers stay perfect at home

SAN ANTONIO — A strong outing on the mound by Fernando Fernandez-Beltran and a pair of productive performances at the plate by Donnie Perez spearheaded a pair of Rattler victories over Texas A&M International on Friday at Dickson Stadium.
 
Fernandez-Beltran tossed a five-hit shutout in the opening game as the Rattlers prevailed 5-0 over the Dustdevils.
 
The ace struck out six, allowing only two walks through seven innings of work.
 
At the plate, Perez collected three RBI on two hits as Jacob Aguilar and Nick Galaviz each posted 2-for-3 performances at the plate, collecting an RBI each.
 
In Game 2, the Dustdevils struck first following after a fielding error led to an RBI single. But in the fourth inning, the Rattlers would catapult out in front with a four-run inning that was highlighted by RBIs from Andrew Perez, Bryce Brandl and Oscar Betancourt.
 
Donnie Perez would then ice the game beginning with a two-run blast in the sixth inning. He would end his day at the plate with a sacrifice fly to center, finishing with four hits and six RBI through the two games.
 
Zach De La Garza threw six full innings, recording six strikeouts, picking up his fourth win of the season while Octavio Rodriguez collected his second save of the season after tossing three hitless innings.
 
Tomorrow, the Rattlers and Dustdevils will conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
