Rattlers win 7th straight, hand #18 Javelinas first loss of season

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's stunned No. 18 Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday with an 8-3 victory in the first game of a three-game series.
 
Starting strong with eight runs in the first four innings, the Rattlers were sparked by Donnie Perez.
 
His RBI-double to right center field in the first was the first of four RBI as he catapulted the Rattlers to victory with a pair of home runs.
 
In addition to Perez, five other Rattlers produced multiple hits including James Davison, Angel Vega, Nick Galaviz, Oscar Betancourt and Patrick Fennell.
 
Picking up his second win of the season was Fernando Fernandez-Beltran, who tossed eight complete innings, striking out 12 while allowing only one earned run.
 
Tomorrow, the Rattlers and Javelinas will conclude their three-game set with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
