Buzzer-beater ends Rattler comeback in heartbreak

SAN ANTONIO — On the cusp of completing a frantic comeback, the St. Mary's Rattlers would fall to the UAFS Lions, 78-75, in devastating fashion following a game-winning buzzer-beater.
 
Trailing 75-70 with 27 seconds left, the Rattlers embarked on a furious rally that would begin on a Petar Radojicic three-point play.
 
Juwan Green would then force a turnover on the ensuing possession, setting the stage for a game-tying tip-in by Will Ferguson with four seconds left in regulation.
 
That would be all the time the Lions would need as DaVaunta Thomas buried the game-winning three from the right wing as time expired.
 
Green paced the Rattlers with a game-high 28 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field as Radojicic posted 11 points as he was plagued with foul trouble.
 
Skylar Brooks posted 10 points and four rebounds as Ferguson and Nikau McCullough logged nine points apiece off the bench.

The Rattlers will head to DBU to face the Patriots on Wednesday before wrapping up the regular season at home against Texas A&M International with a spot in the Heartland Conference Tournament on the line.
