Radojicic career-high not enough as Rattlers fall to the Savage Storm

SAN ANTONIO – Despite a Rattler career-high, St. Mary's fell to Southeastern Oklahoma State 89-80 in the finale of the River City Classic Tournament on Saturday.

Petar Radojicic posted a career-high 24 points, shooting 11-18 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. The senior forward also added six rebounds and one block. Markques Houston added 18 points, and led the team with nine rebounds on the night. Caleb Jordan was the third Rattler to add double digits, finishing with 13 points.

The Savage Storm spread the wealth in scoring, with five players scoring in double digits: Kellen Manek (27), Jett Jobe (18), Kevin Buckingham (13), Adam Dworskey (10), and Todd Dawkins (10).

In the first half St. Mary's had a higher scoring percentage from the field going 17-28, but the Savage Storm started strong hitting 11-23 on threes. The Rattlers would end the first half with a 10 point deficit, 50-40, that they could not come back from. 

The Blue & Gold made a comeback early in the second half with an 8-0 run to cut the Storm lead to two points.The Rattlers outscored the Storm 40-39 in the second as well, but it would not be enough to get the win. 

The loss broke a four-game win streak for the Blue & Gold, who are now 4-3 on the season.

Up next, St Mary's will host Our Lady of the Lake on Monday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
