@StMUwsoccer season ends with bitter overtime defeat

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Soccer battled tough against St. Edward's in the regular season finale, falling to the eventual Heartland Conference regular season champions 2-1 in overtime.
 
Following a scoreless first half, the Rattlers struck first on a goal by Morgan Cave, who connected on a lead pass from Victoria Villasenor, in the 54th minute.
 
St. Edward's would respond with a goal off a corner kick in the 65th minute, setting the stage for overtime.
 
In their second overtime match in three days, the Rattlers faced the same fate as the Hilltoppers scored the decisive goal in the 95th minute.
 
With the loss, the Rattlers finish the season with 6-9-2 overall and 4-9-1 in conference.
