Rattlers wrap up opening weekend at Lady Buff Classic

CANYON, Texas — Similar to Day 1 of the Lady Buff Classic, the St. Mary's Rattlers split its two matches on Day 2.
 
The first match of the day saw the Rattlers breeze through Texas-Permian Basin in straight sets.
 
Leading the way was Channing Hankins who posted a match-high 21 kills as Bree Perry tallied 37 assists.
 
Mandee Eberlee and MacKenzie Harless each notched four blocks while Monica Ramon collected 15 digs. Eberlee would also add 12 digs of her own as the Rattlers picked up their second straight victory of the weekend.
 
In the nightcap, against host West Texas A&M, the Rattlers were put away in three sets to a Lady Buffs squad that only lost one set all weekend.
 
St. Mary's was led by Tarine Grace who posted a team-high nine kills. Setting things up once again was Perry who added 25 assists to her weekend total as she was named to the All-Tournament Team, ending the weekend with a total of 139 assists.
 
Next for the Rattlers is a trip to Florida where they will play six matches in three days, beginning with a matchup against Florida International on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
