Volleyball takes 5-set thriller over DBU

DALLAS, Texas — St. Mary's Volleyball stormed back for a thrilling 3-2 road victory over DBU on Saturday, earning its first Heartland Conference victory of the season.

Trailing 2-1 after a 25-9 defeat in the third second, the Rattlers rallied for a 27-25 victory in Set 4 before taking a clinching 15-11 victory in the final stanza at the Burg Center.

Tarine Grace hit .333 and led the Rattlers (6-7, 1-1) with 17 kills, while Channing Hankins turned in 15 kills. Manned Eberle also recorded double-digit kills with 13.

Bree Perry was active throughout, posting 52 assists, 18 digs and a pair of kills.

Monica Ramon joined Perry as one of five Rattlers with double-figure totals in digs, leading the way with 31. Amanda Lake added 19, Eberle had 17, while Clarissa Bustamante added 11.

The Rattlers will return home for a pair of matches next week, leading with a Heartland Conference tilt against Lubbock Christian on Thursday. The match will tip at 7 p.m. from Bill Greehey Arena.
