Rattlers downed by #23 Hilltoppers in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — In the first Battle of the Saints contest of the year, St. Mary's Men's Soccer fell to No. 23 St. Edward's, 6-1, Saturday afternoon.
 
The goals came early as both teams combined for five goals in the opening half of play. With the Hilltoppers jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, Pato Botello Faz put the Rattlers on the board with his third goal of the season off an assist by Jose Castro.
 
That would be the only goal of the match for the Rattlers as St. Ed's would strike for four unanswered to end the match, handing the Rattlers their first loss in conference play.
 
St. Mary's (3-2-1, 1-1) will continue conference play on Thursday at 8 p.m. when it visits Eastern New Mexico for the fifth of its six-match road trip.
