DENVER — "The fight, the heart, that's what our team is," coach Stephanie Armstrong said following St. Mary's 3-0 loss to No. 1 seed Regis on Thursday night at the NCAA DII South Central Regional.

"They showed their grit, their fight and I couldn't be more proud," Armstrong added after the Rattlers' first regional appearance in seven years.

Facing a hostile crowd, the Rattlers faced an uphill battle the entire night. Trailing by two sets, they hung tough against the Rangers, battling to a 20-20 tie late in the third set before ultimately falling 25-21.

In the third set, the Rattlers held the Rangers to a .073 hitting percentage, displaying the same fight they had shown all season.

Senior Tarine Grace recorded three blocks in the final match of her four-year Rattler career.

"It was our goal all along to take conference and make a name for St. Mary's," Grace said. "That's exactly what we did."

With Channing Hankins notching nine kills, Bree Perry posted a team-high 21 assists and along with Moncia Ramon, recorded 13 digs apiece.

"We're going to work hard and hopefully next year we'll be back," Ramon said post-match.

Ending with a 19-12 record, the Rattlers pieced together a memorable season that saw the program produce its most wins in a season and its best overall and conference winning percentage.
