Upstart Rattlers bounced in Heartland Tournament

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — A season of growth for St. Mary's Men's Soccer came to an end on Friday night as the Rattlers fell 6-1 to No. 2 seed St. Edward's.
 
Keeping close throughout the first half, the Rattlers trailed by only one to the Hilltoppers, the No. 14 ranked team in the nation.
 
Despite the loss, St. Mary's outshot the Hilltoppers 16-12 in the match with the team's lone goal coming courtesy of freshman Ollie Wright.
 
Heartland Conference First-Team selections Tommy Fogarty-Cameron and Pato Botello Faz combined for half of the Rattlers' shots.
 
Despite the loss, the Rattlers ended the 2017 campaign with a 10-9-1 record, the team's best in 15 years when they tallied a dozen victories.
 
In addition, the Rattlers placed three on the All-Heartland Conference Team in what has been a renaissance of a season.
