Conference leading Lions top Rattlers in Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Arkansas — Tarine Grace led St. Mary's with 12 kills as the Rattlers fell to UAFS in straight sets on Saturday.

The Rattlers fell to the top team in the Heartland Conference despite a team-high 36 assists from Bree Perry. Jaycie Pluenneke recorded a trio of blocks while Clarissa Bustamante posted 16 digs.

After falling 25-14 in the first set, the Rattlers kept close throughout the match, battling to a 22-22 tie in the second set before conceding the final three points. The final Rattler rally came when they trailed 24-21 as they posted back-to-back points, only to fall 25-23.

On Wednesday, the Rattlers will return home to host Trinity in a battle of the San Antonio universities.
