Rattler rally falls short in OT

SAN ANTONIO — Points were to come by when the St. Mary's Rattlers hosted the Texas A&M International Dustdevils.
 
The Rattlers (5-11, 3-4) fell in overtime, 51-45 after coming from behind to force overtime. Following five consecutive missed free throws by the Dustdevils, a Yanni Wetzell layup with five seconds left forced the extra period.
 
Wetzell would finish with eight points and 11 boards in 40 minutes of playing time. Freddie Williams led the Rattlers with 10 points and eight rebounds with Robbie Benavides posting nine points, two rebounds and two assists.
 
Despite scoring 15 points off of turnovers, the Rattlers were held to under 27 percent shooting from the field.
 
St. Mary's will look to bounce back when it hosts Oklahoma Panhandle State on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
