DALLAS — Pato Botello made a grand return for St. Mary's Men's Soccer on Thursday, scoring what amounted to the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Dallas Baptist.

Botello's 68th-minute goal put the Rattlers up 2-0, but DBU would counter with a goal of their own in the final minute to create some suspense before the final whistle.

Rafael Ortiz Salas also scored for the Rattlers (3-5-2, 2-4-1 in Heartland Conference), capitalizing on Habib Balarabe's assist to put give the Rattlers a 1-0 first-half lead three minutes before the break. Juan Sanchez also had an assist in the game on Botello's second-half strike.

Jack Moore got the victory in the net for the Snakes, saving three shots while allowing one late goal.

St. Mary's was the more aggressive team throughout, totaling 16 shots to the Patriots' 9. DBU dropped to 4-6-1 on the season.

The Rattlers will be back in action Saturday, when they take on Texas A&M International at 7:30 p.m. in Laredo, Texas.
