Men's Soccer draws with Eastern New Mexico in double OT

LAREDO, Texas — St. Mary's Men's Soccer ended the Texas A&M International Fall Invitational in a 1-1 tie against Eastern New Mexico Sunday in its second double overtime tie on the season.
 
The Rattlers moved to 2-0-2 on the season after the 110-minute battle with Eastern New Mexico on Dustdevil Soccer Field that had both team produce nearly similar stats.
 
Victor Luna (Jr., Sealy, Texas) netted the first goal of the game six minutes into the match off a shot 10 yards out in his second goal on the season. Ryan Hoskins (So., San Antonio), who scored two goals in the Rattlers' win over No. 20 Fort Lewis College in the TAMIU Fall Invitational opener Friday, assisted Luna's goal with a pass from 15 yards out.
 
The Greyhounds (1-3-1) then spoiled the Rattlers' shutout with a loose ball from seven yards out that John Jamison struck in nearly one minute before the half.
 
Both teams continued to strike but neither team was able to celebrate the winning goal, forcing a double overtime.
 
St. Mary's tallied 16 shots for the game with seven shots on goal while ENMU totaled 19 shots with nine shot on goal.
 
Luna led in looks with four shots with one shot on goal followed by Alex Gonzalez (RS-So., McAllen, Texas), Ignacio Fernandez (Jr., Cordoba, Aregentina) and Nico Leora (Fr., San Antonio) who all recorded two shots apiece.
 
Keeper Mitchell Kilmer (RS-Fr., Frisco, Texas) saved an impressive eight shots for the match while allowing one goal to keep his goals allowed average at a low 0.66. With the tie, Kilmer is now 2-0-2 on the season with 17 total saves.
 
The Rattlers return home for their second home match on the season at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Our Lady of the Lake at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
