AUSTIN, Texas — St. Mary's Men's Soccer was able to stave off No. 13 St. Edward's for 73 minutes Saturday, but the Hilltoppers showed its nationally ranked prowess to win 3-0 with three late-game goals.

The Rattlers teased overtime with a stalemate game with 17 minutes remaining, but the No. 13 Hilltoppers ignited as regulation threatened to end, scoring three goals in a span of seven minutes.

Hilltopper Andrew Fox, who scored two goals in the victory in this season's earlier non-conference matchup against the Rattlers, connected twice again Saturday, scoring in the 73rd and 79th minute.

Hilltopper Daniel Riley then made the game out of grasp for the Rattlers, scoring a little more than a minute after Fox's second goal in the 80th minute for the final score of 3-0.

SEU was able to remain undefeated in league play with the win, improving to 7-0 and 13-2-1 overall while the Rattlers dropped to 8-6-2 and 5-3 in conference play in their final game of the regular season.

The Rattlers locked in their postseason run earlier this season and now are slated as the No. 3 seed in the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament starting Thursday, which will be hosted by No. 1 seed St. Edward's, which has one more conference game left on the season.

The Hilltoppers got off 19 shots in the "Battle of the Saints" matchup with 10 shot on goal to give keeper Mitchell Kilmer seven saves. The loss drops Kilmer to 8-6-2 on the season.

In the key win over Texas A&M International last week, Kilmer set the program's record for most wins in a single season with eight.

The Rattlers recorded seven shots on the game with one being on target, shot by Victor Luna (Sr., Sealy, Texas).

With their first winning season since 2002 in the books, the Rattlers will now gear to fight for the conference crown starting Thursday. Check back with RattlerAthletics.com for details.
